This may sound vindictive, but oh well. We stopped by last night around 7:30 pm for dinner. The place was half full, no one waiting for a table. And the hostess told us that without a reservation we couldn't be seated. Notice that I didn't say the hostess said, "We prefer you make a reservation, but if you don't mind waiting for a half hour or so at the bar [which was COMPLETELY empty] we'd be happy to sit you." No reservation...no table. Did I mention they were only about 1/2 full on a Saturday evening? It certainly didn't look like Le Bernadin, and if there were people waiting I'd be a little understanding. We'd just come from a party at the Don Cesar and were dressed and polite. So it wasn't us. We left. Can't totally trash the place since we didn't get a chance to try anything. But you don't even want my money - you'd prefer to leave empty tables on a Saturday night? I don't understand.

The best little German restaurant anywhere. Small menu but everything is cooked to order and it's done perfectly! Have many favorites, but the weinerschnitzel is better than any I had when visiting Germany. And my husband and I can't say enough good things about Manuela (Ella), the person who serves in a more than efficient manner while constantly being kind, caring and upbeat. She makes us feel like we are in her own private dining room. Be sure to make a reservation ahead as the dining room is small and only will serve the number of people it can serve comfortably and efficiently.

Look, I never write reviews...but I was so impressed with this place I had to give everyone a heads up. I found it on trip advisor...but when I showed up the place was EMPTY! I usually don't go to restaurants that don't have some traffic, but I was tired and wanted to get back to the hotel. In the end...This place is freaking amazing...the schnitzel is out of this world and the service was impeccable. I guess it is St. Pete's best kept secret???

Great little place. I'm guessing its just a husband and wife workin the place, which makes sense of the reserved seating. How else would they serve people in a timely matter! The food was great, the homemade soft pretzels could use a fancier mustard or butter, but they we're perfect with my liter of beer. My fiance got the weinerschnitzel... have to say much better than the pork schnitzel worth the couple extra bucks for the quality meat. I also had rostbratwurst and some spatzel... i was pretty much all smiles while eating. I do miss the fact they don't have potato pancakes. I have to say, if i ever drop in and say they can't seat me, i'll gladly sit and wait at the mini bar with a pretzel and some beer. P.S. why the hell isn't german food more popular, i don't get it.

Went there for Christmas Eve, so probably a little more empty than usual. The interior is neatly decorated with German ornaments and paintings... interesting cow bells (if you ring it you'll be buying a round for everyone). The Schnitzels were ok but the veal wasn't as soft as we liked. Their Bavarian sausage was pretty good though. We had a very friendly waitress (most people are friendly in Florida) named Ella and she explained to us how to drink our dessert and how not to ring cow bells ;P They only have one chef, so the food might come out slow if there are a lot of people. Interesting little place across from the beach.

Eating at a German Restaurant while on my Florida beach vacation was not something I envisioned. But since there aren't many German restaurants in Atlanta, the husband and I decided to give it a try. This place is on the main drag when you dive through St. Pete Beach, but you could easily miss it since it is in a small, unassuming strip mall. Inside, the decor is a little kitschy, like a German cracker barrel with lots of German themed tchotchkes throughout the restaurant. The husband and I thought the food here was amazing. It was absolutely handmade by the owner. The schnitzel was crisp and tender. The sausages were undoubtedly made by hand and tasted wonderful. The sauerkraut was different from what I am used to but totally amazing.

I love this place went here in March when we were here in vacation. I thought it was delicious. Even the mustard tasted way better then most. I had bratwurst which was delicious. I wanted to have more but We had already ordered strudel which was out of this world.

This place is a hidden gem. I went on a whim in early March. The exterior doesn't look like much, but the interior is nice and intimate. The food and beer menus are complete with what you'd expect. The proprietor (Herr Mayer) is the only chef, so some patience is needed, but it's worth the wait. I had the Teufels Teller entree and it was excellent. The spicy goulash in particular was amazing. I sampled some other plates from people in our party and they were all fresh and of high quality. I've been to Munich, Germany three times and the food at Sandra's is easily in the running for the top Bavarian food I've ever had. I will definitely go to Sandra's the next time I return to St. Pete's Beach. Make reservations if you can, and you will not be disappointed.

My buddy and I stopped in there last week when we were visiting the area... as I was driving in to my hotel, I saw the sign for 'German Restaurant', and knew I had to give it a try. The place is in a tiny, nondescript strip mall with maybe 4 storefronts. Doesn't look like much outside, but inside it is nicely and authentically decorated. We walked in and the place was essentially empty. A couple more tables came in and were seated as we were eating. I suppose on a Wednesday early evening, that could be to be expected. The selection of German wine was all white, and fairly sweet, which was fine, and I also had a Spaten Optimator... can't go wrong there. We split a 'CurryWurst' as an appetizer... very tasty with lots of kick to the curry! I had the Rouladen (a must-have for me with German food... had I made it back for another visits, I'd have tried something else), the portion was a little small, as compared to what I'm used to getting at Tip Top out here in the San Diego area, but the flavor was excellent. The menu says they make theirs with Angus Beef. My friend had the Schnitzel, which he's generally a big fan of, having eaten lots of it in Munich, and was also quite pleased. We were in a bit of a rush, so we weren't able to enjoy a third round of drinks or dessert, but we would definitely have stayed longer if we could. Ella (I believe her name was) made us feel right at home! I will definitely be recommending this place to anyone visiting the area, and will absolutely be back the next time I'm in the area... hopefully this fall!

This is an excellent little restaurant. We had the excellent jagerschnitzel and a combination dish of schnitzel, sausage and pork with gravy, potato salad, spaetzels, dinner salads, plus we had an appetizer of stuffed peppers. The hot tea was tasty, the icewater was fresh too. This is a small place with apparently one cook and one waitress, so the food comes out somewhat slower than other places with a bigger staff, which is what some of the reviewers are complaining about. But the food is well worth the wait, and the waitress is very nice. The restaurant and the bathrooms are immaculately clean, and the dining area in nice and cool with fresh air. They play german music in the background, nice and quietly so you can have a pleasant conversation while eating, with authentic german atmosphere. We highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you phone ahead and make reservations. Their menu is available online, so since there is one cook, you may get your food faster if you tell them what you want in advance. The quality is very high, so the price is a nice value for what you get, and the portions are good.

I should add that the owner apoligized that they could not accept the voucher, but on our next visit that they would honor it and add a 1 liter Mass beer on the house. Nice people.

Went into this place on a Wed night with my mother and my girlfriend around 630pm. There was one other group of 6 people in the restaurant. The owner/hostess asked if we had reservations and we smiled and said no. She then told us that they could not seat us until 730pm. I could not believe it - there were a dozen EMPTY tables in the place. We promptly left. They say reservations recommended when they really should say required. Left bad taste in my mouth and will never go back and I love German food.

If you have a coupon (like from resaurant.com ) expect the owner to try to find an excuse to not honor it. I am of German & Austrian descent, & I have been to Germany. I have eaten at many German Restauarants, & my grandparents were both from Austria. In addition, I was in the restaurant business for many years. Therefore, I know what good German food is, & I have had much better. I am also usually very forgiving when it comes to an imperfect dining experience. So, when I take the time to write a restaurant review, I either thoroughly enjoyed my experience, or I had very bad experience. Unfortunately my night at The Bavarian House was the latter, not the former. When we walked in the door we felt unwelcome. The server/hostess seemed to not want to be there. The server seemed to have a bad attitude for some reason. I described spaetzl to my Latin wife as something similar to small dumpling pieces. The server seemd to want to argue, saying it was a noodle. Then later I ordered a Paulaner beer. She brought me a Paulaner wheat beer when I did not want the wheat beer. I wanted the standard pilsner. It seemed to tick her off that asked her to replace the wheat beer with the pilsner that I wanted. Later still when we were finished with our dinners, I asked for a to-go box for my wife's left-over schnitzel. She didn't take care of this right away. So when she came to pick up my wife's plate, my sister reiterated the need for a box. The server annoyedly said "I know!" Then when dessert was served I told the server that I had a restaurant.com coupon. She immediately said that they might not be able to honor it since I didn't give it to her before ordering. Now techinically I found out that this is correct. But as I said, I was in the restaurant business for many years, & the reason you do promotions such as restaurant.com is to get new people to try the restaurant. I told the server that we drove 40 miles one way to try this restaurant that we found on restaurant.com . If the owner would not honor our coupon, we would not be back. The server left, came back and said that our coupon expired. Therefore, they could not honor it. I told her that I called restaurant.com before coming to the restaurant, & they said there is no longer an experiation, and that it is sill good. She left and returned again & she said that restaurant.com does not dictate the terms of the coupons, & that they still would not honor it. By this time the server is acting a little bit sweeter than earlier. No doubt because now she is geting worried about her tip. Even though she is a terrible server, I still gave her a decent tip. She would have gotten more had she been a better server & had she been a bit friendlier. However, I just would like to say that we drove 40 miles, spent over $120 in this restaurant and by not honoring our coupon, I feel like the owner stole $25 from me. DON'T GO!! The food & service are sub par!
